In Janurary, I started this program:

http://www.hundredpushups.com/

The program is to train you to perform 100 consecutive push-ups. When I performed the initial test, I managed 27 push-ups.

Now, it's almost May and I am only up to 41 push-ups.

I was hoping you Terminators of Oregon could help out this girly-man Texan.

I've upped my protein intake greatly, and have been working on perfecting the breathing portion of the work out. So far, it doesn't seem to be hurting and is helping me a great deal.

Any tips would be wonderful.

Yeah, that site is pretty cool. The 200 squats and sit-ups are also neat and the 25 pull-ups is in the works.

the program itself is 6 weeks long, so you have done it multiple times, how are you doing that? Are you doing the final test, resting for a few days and testing and starting again? How fast are you doing the pushups? How hard are the sets of pushups your doing? are you taking more or less time in between then the recommended 45 seconds.

I looked at the program and noticed that is uses the pyramid style of low-high-low rep sets. Now keep in mind I don't ACTUALLY know how this all works, but I've never liked that setup. You could try doing it differently if your not seeing progress. Try picking a number that is right at the edge of how many you can do, like you could do it but youd be way tired. Then do a set thats half of that, then 3/4, then 2 sets that is that number, with ample rest in between those last two, and do those last 2 to the full number you started at no matter what. Try to increment that final number every time you do the workout :P

Week 5 was the week that I started to have trouble on. I've been doing week 5 for awhile now, and it is getting easier. I do the final test and then start the week over again the following week. I perform the push-ups at a medium pace to give me time to breathe. On week 5, there are 7 small sets and the 8th set is large. I can perform the 7 pretty easily, but I can never perform the 8th set fully without resting during the set and I always wait atleast 2 minutes in between. To halp, I was thinking about doing my max when I wake up and when I go to bed. Does that go along with the style you mentioned?

You dont want to over work your muscles, but with pushups it shouldnt be a huge deal, if you do the normal workout that day too, you could try doing an extra max set once instead of twice that day.

I'll give it a shot.

Do you have an idea of what I could be doing wrong?

Other than maybe having bad form make sure you eat properly. How well/fast you gain varies alot from person to person too.

I appreciate the halp.

This doesn't have anything rly to do with the 100 Push-ups, but today I put my hands about a foot away from a wall and flipped into a handstand, and I performed my first handstand push-up in a manner where I touched the ground and came all the way back up.

I just thought I would tell you fine people.
